Overview
Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to the Mara & Afternoon Game Drive
Morning: Departure from Nairobi Depart Nairobi early in the morning (around 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM) to beat city traffic and maximize your time in the reserve. Stop briefly at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint for photos and sweeping views over the escarpment. Continue through Narok town, the hub of Maasai country, for a quick comfort break or lunch stop. Afternoon: Check-in & Relaxation Arrive at emaiyan luxury camp in time for check-in and late lunch. Settle into your cottage or room and relax after the drive. Late Afternoon: First Game Drive Head out through the nearby gate into the Maasai Mara for an evening game drive (around 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM). Look out for lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras as they roam the open savannah in the cooler late afternoon hours. Evening: Dinner & Campfire Return to the resort to refresh before dinner. Unwind around the outdoor campfire, taking in the serene atmosphere and stargazing before retiring for the night.
Day 2: Full-Day Maasai Mara Game Drive
Morning: Early Breakfast & Departure Enjoy an early breakfast at the resort restaurant. Depart with packed picnic lunch boxes for an expansive full-day adventure across the reserve. Mid-Day: Exploring the Reserve & Mara River Spend the morning tracking wildlife across the vast plains, searching for the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino). Drive toward the famous Mara River area, where hippos and Nile crocodiles inhabit the waters (and where the Great Migration crossings occur seasonally). Stop at a designated, secure picnic site or under an acacia tree for your bush lunch surrounded by nature. Afternoon: Continued Wildlife Tracking Continue your game drive as you slowly make your way back toward the eastern side of the reserve. Keep an eye out for cheetahs scanning the plains or herds of wildebeests and antelopes. Evening: Dinner & Traditional Maasai Storytelling Return to emaiyan luxury camp in the late afternoon to shower and relax. Enjoy a multi-course dinner at the restaurant followed by relaxation in the lounge or around the fire pit.
Day 3: Morning Cultural Visit & Return to Nairobi
Morning: Maasai Cultural Village Visit After breakfast, take a guided visit to a nearby Maasai village (Manyatta). Interact with the local Maasai community, learn about their traditional culture and lifestyle, watch traditional dance performances, and browse hand-crafted beadwork. Mid-Morning: Departure for Nairobi Check out of emaiyan luxury camp and start your journey back to Nairobi. En-route stop in Narok town for lunch or snacks.
