Overview
Lake Naivasha is one of Kenya’s most popular and accessible freshwater lakes, located in the Great Rift Valley, about 90 minutes’ drive northwest of Nairobi in Nakuru County. It is a favorite weekend and day-trip destination for both locals and international visitors due to its scenic beauty, rich biodiversity, and wide range of activities.
Location & Landscape: The lake sits at the base of dramatic escarpments with views of Mount Longonot (a dormant volcano) and the surrounding Rift Valley. It is one of the few freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley system and supports lush vegetation, flower farms, and colonial-era homes along its shores.
